“Farming is the sowing of, tending to, and harvest of Sustenance and Self. From seed to soil to soul. We are all bounded, like these images, by walls, by ideas, by fencing. The meditation and horse farm where I live and teach philosophy and movement arts once presented these oak rails as horse fencing. They now frame perspectives, and continue on as the lifestuff of lichen. They now direct one’s view inward which is the surest way to glimpse the extrinsic.
Meditation, similarly, is a Path to self-seeing, and thus other-understanding. My works are designed to test the hypothesis that teaching might be done both without the teacher present and perhaps with the teacher never having been present. Can someone gain the entirety of my teachings without ever having met me…by simply coming into communion with Art on a Wall? To see beyond the wall and into themselves? Can poetry invite their child-mind to undefendedly encounter deep Wisdom, to reunite with Source?
We shall see.”
